  • What is the purpose of the meshmod?
The purpose of "meshmoding" a skimmer is to achieve added performance and efficiency of ones skimmer. The Enkamat mesh produces very fine bubbles within the Skimmers chamber to allow for better protein adhesion. It has also been noted, that the Enkamat mod enables the skimmer pump to require less wattage due to decreased resistance of the impeller.

  • Do you have a tutorial on how to meshmod my skimmer?
We are currently working on some online tutorials, however due to the fact there are many different models of skimmers we will not be able to provide a tutorial for every skimmer.
Forums are an excellent source of information regarding tutorials for this mod. We are looking for help with tutorials. If you have a detailed step by step  tutorial please contact us. In return you will receive your choice of  two (2) FREE Value kits.

  • What is the difference between the Pf4 and Pf5 Enkamat?
The difference between the 2 types of mesh is fiber size and durability. The Pf5 Enkamat is more durable and has a thicker Nylon fiber at .025" with a overall thickness of .50" while the Pf4 Enkamat has a smaller Nylon fiber at .020" and a overall thickness of .25"

  • What is Flatback Enkamat?
Flatback Enkamat is Pf4 Enkamat with a flat bottom, many hobbyist prefer this mesh as it is easy to install multiple layers and said to produce finer bubbles within the skimmer chamber.

  • Which type of mesh should I use?
As to which type of mesh you choose is entirely up to you. We have achieved excellent results with both types of mesh. We have received many comments from customers stating the Pf4 Enkamat achieves the best overall results., while the Pf5 Enkamat is said to work very well with the larger custom skimmers as it can handle the extra stress of a larger impeller and last longer then Pf4 due to its larger fiber size.

  • Can I use fishing line instead of ZipTies to secure the mesh?
Some people choose to use fishing line instead of zip ties, however we believe you will see the best results using the included zip ties.

  • How long will the meshmod last?
We recommend changing the Enkamat yearly. Some people change the mesh much sooner and we have reports of Enkamat lasting over 18 months with little physical wear.

  • Do I need to clean the mesh? If so how often?
The cleaning and maintenance of the Enkamat depends on where the skimmer is placed (In tank or sump) and if the skimmers pump is subject to large amounts of detritus. If the skimmer is located in a sump and filter socks are used then cleaning of the Enkamat is very minimal. We have gone 6 months with out any noticeable buildup of detritus  in our tests.
